Great-Great Aunts

While we were in Warsaw, Jack and I (and Grandma Shirlee) made a trip to Plymouth to visit with 3 of my 4 Great Aunts who live there. My Great Aunts have always been part of my life and it was nice to spend some time with them. They all agreed that Jack was a "Little Jerry." Apparently, my dad was a blonde-haired, blue-eyed boy, as well. And I heard stories about "Little Jerry" acting like a "pill" from time to time. Jack didn't disappoint. He was not happy about posing for pictures. Regardless - it was a nice visit and we are always so thankful to spend time with "The Wright Sisters."

Back to Warsaw

Jack and I are back from a five day visit to Warsaw. Do you like how I posted ahead, so you didn't even know we were gone?

We left early Wednesday morning and after a few brief stops (traveling with an 18mth old and two dogs isn't easy), we surprised Grandma Nancy with a quick stop in Churubusco, too - we finally arrived at my mom & dad's house. Thursday night the "welcoming committee" came over for a dinner party. We saw the Beehlers, the Mailes, and Miss Stef!
Gramps being a "Jack Hog" - with Mr. Beehler and Mr. Max (soon-to-be Daddy!)
Here is a picture our parents NEVER thought they would see. Kate and I are pregnant at the same time! Baby Boy Maile is due to arrive in two weeks - but I'm pretty sure he could come any day now and his momma would be okay with it. She's 38 weeks along and I'm 22 weeks along.
Jack - always the center of attention, at least at this moment in his life - put on an "after-dinner show" for us! Gramps and Uncle Joe (mainly Uncle Joe) soaked him with the watering can. He loved every minute of it.
Jack trying to get water on Uncle Joe's head, too.
And then, my dear brother, stripped my son down to his diaper and let him run around on the golf course. Our neighbors were eating dinner on their back porch and reported that they enjoyed the "show."
"I'm gonna get you, Uncle Joe!"

Stay tuned for a lot more pictures from our visit!

Brush, Brush, Brush

Jack's daddy recently had a "rough" visit to dentist, Demi. Aside from some cavities, he also has to have a root canal. Been there, done that. Not fun.

Luckily, at this point, brushing his teeth is quite enjoyable for Jack. After his milk, he hops off the bed and runs to the bathroom - just waiting for me to come join him.  I always brush his teeth first - to ensure they get a good scrub and then I give him a turn.

Flashback Friday

Flashback to life in Bloomington. It was good great. One random Friday we took a road trip down to Gatlinburg, TN to spend the weekend with some old DePauw friends. Amazing.

Shopping for Sister

I feel like I have really neglected my pregnancy on the blog. Of course, I know Baby #2 is on the way. She has been overly active - so much so, that Tyson has been able to feel her kicking around in there. (MUCH earlier than he felt Jack kicking) Note to Jack: Sister knows she has to be STRONG to survive living with YOU! Watch out, son!

Just to prove that she is always on my mind - I did a little preemptive shopping last weekend with one of my best friends, Kelly, while she was visiting us at the lake.  I found myself attracted to clothes that were "less pink" - which is really no surprise.  I was kind of a tom-boy growing up. My mother and grandmothers tried to dress me in frilly dresses and perm my hair! In 3rd grade, my friend Abbie and I signed two contracts. Abbie's: "I will not kiss a boy, not even on my wedding day." Mine: "I will not wear a dress on my wedding day, I'll wear pants." We both broke those contracts.

Shopping for the baby has been put on hold. Who needs to shop when you have Nancy & Shirlee for grandmas?

Mmmm. Cupcakes!

The other night, after dinner, there was a knock on our door. It was Sydney and her mommy, Jessica. They had baked cupcakes and they brought some over for us to enjoy. Jessica knows the way to a pregnant lady's heart - CUPCAKES!
Jack had his cupcake last night. As you can see, he had his eyes set on the "prize." He was focused and ready to eat.
Delicious! Like his momma - the kid LOVES chocolate!
Look how happy a cupcake can make him! Thanks, again, Syd & Jess!

Couch = Toddler Jungle Gym

Our couch has become Jack's personal Jungle Gym. He climbs ALL over it - ALL the time! Last night he discovered that he could crawl over the side. He's a dare-devil and fears nothing.

Tyson and I have spent plenty of time trying to protect him. Obviously, we don't want him to get hurt. But we have also come to realize that falling down is part of the learning process. So we took a hands-off approach to his activities last night. No injuries to report . . . at this time.

"See, Mom, I can do it all by myself!"

Happy Shark Week!

Rumor has it - it's Shark Week. Jack celebrated by wearing his shark shirt. Happy Shark Week, shark lovers!

Ducks in a Row

Jack and the Carsten boys found some of Grandma Nancy's wooden ducks in the landscaping. Who needs a Thomas Train or baseball when you can play with wooden ducks? Thank goodness there were three ducks, for three little boys!
 Mr. Maddox with a duck . . .
 Jack - looking a little silly - with a duck . . .
And the new walker - Jace, also enjoying playing with a duck.

Verdict: Wooden Ducks - HUGE hit! I'll remind "Santa" of this in a few months!
"Wonder if this duck wants to go for a swim?!?"
