Shots of Jack

He has an obsession with baseball (to put it mildly). On this day he practiced his pitching, hitting, and sliding. Obsessed.

Guess Who...

Guess who I saw in Warsaw today. Seriously, guess. He's 6'7" tall, dark, and I've had a crush on him since I was five.

Give up? RICK FOX! He's in town for a community support event sponsored by the YMCA. I've seen his face all over town on billboards, but today - I saw him in person. Sadly, I was driving and my stalking ended two seconds after I spotted him.

Here is how it went down:

I was driving home with my mom, Jack, and Josie.  We drove past the Shell Station (people in/from Warsaw know what I'm talking about) and I spot a tall, dark, and handsome guy. I think in my head - "WHOA! HOTTIE! Who is that tall drink of water?" I turn around (yes, while driving) and see that he has just gotten out of a white BMW SUV and then I see that it's Rick Fox.

I don't care if he's 12 years older than me. Or that he may (or may not) have had "work done." He's hot. Always has been.

Welcome back to Warsaw, Rick. I live here now. Come back and visit again soon.

Josie

Josie had her first pediatrician appointment in Fort Wayne today. She was not a happy camper. But apparently she enjoys eating. Here are her stats:

Weight: 12lb 14oz (90%)
Height: 21.5in (15%)
Head: ? (50%)

Her Grandpa Clevenger affectionately referred to her as "a little bowling ball." He suggested she start running after her big brother, Jack.

She has an umbilical hernia that I was concerned about...but her doctor wasn't worried at all. He said they are VERY common and usually "fix themselves" without requiring surgery. We're hoping that's the case.

Here is a little random fact - Josie and Jack will be going to the same pediatrician their daddy went to growing up. How cool is that??

If you're wondering (because I was) click HERE to see Jack's two month stats. Prettttty interesting! Also - please note the abundance of pictures from Jack's visit vs. Josie's visit today. That is what you call first child vs. second child.

Friday Flashback

Zumba

Gina and I have been taking a Zumba class in Warsaw on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. If you haven't heard of Zumba - Google it! It's a great workout! And the best part is - it's fun, so you don't feel like you're working out. Bonus!

Here's the thing. I'm not a spectacular dancer and I'm a perfectionist. That's a bad combo for Zumba class! I focus so much on what my legs/arms/belly/hips should be doing - that I look like a fish out of water. I've resorted to watching YouTube videos to learn the moves. And then I salsa in the living room,. during Jack's nap. See... Perfectionist.

As I said, it is SUPER fun and for a person who hates working out - enjoying it is more than half the battle. I highly recommend it!

As my dear friend Brooke once told me, Zumba is "the only place where you can dance like a hooker and everyone is ok with it." Oh so VERY true!

Smiles in the Morning

Is it me or do my kids have the same smile?

Articles Worth Reading

Having a newborn allows me to enjoy an hour of productivity around 4am everyday. Unfortunately that productivity comes in the form of reading online and not doing laundry. I have been meaning to share some articles I have read. Most are about Motherhood or parenting, so if they aren't your cup'o'tea - I'm not offended. If you don't have time to read them now, save this post and come back when you do. I promise - they're good!

The first was written by a blogger named Glennon Melton. She wrote it for the Huffington Post. It's hilarious! It's called "Don't Carpe Diem." You can read it by clicking HERE.  It's laugh-out-loud funny...which didn't bode well for Josie's 4am feeding while Tyson was trying to sleep. Seriously, read it!

The next article was from a blog called Brooding. It's called "When Mean Girls Become Mommies." It can be read by clicking HERE. It's about the difficulty moms face in raising healthy, happy children...and how we can often become judgmental of each other & ourselves. A more serious read...but good, nonetheless.

The final article was sent to me from my friend, Kelly (mommy to Madison).  It was written by Simcha Fisher, a mother of NINE, yes, nine children.  The article is called "To The Mother With Only One Child." She reflects on how difficult it was being a mom when she just had one baby. Here is one of my favorite lines from her article: "My husband got to leave the house every day, and sleep every night.  He got to go to the bathroom alone.  I hated him for it." You can read her article by clicking HERE.

That is all for the moment. But don't be disappointed. I have many more 4am feedings ahead of me...and many more online articles to read.

Lack of Post

Sorry for the lack of post today. I was on a mission to find Jack a new "school" in Warsaw. The child needs interaction with other children. He is social. I am not. Or at least, I'm not as social as he is...

I hate new situations where I have to meet people. I'm always really nervous and quiet. I've gotten better as I've gotten older, but in high school and college - this was a HUGE flaw of mine.  I'm embracing the fact that my son takes after his father and has never met a stranger. Good work on passing on your "social gene," Tyson!

Anyway, I called around and found a place that was accepting new "students" and would be flexible with my needs. I want to send him part-time, like we were doing in Michigan. I also couldn't commit to an extended period of time, since we aren't sure how long we'll be in Warsaw.

BUT - I am happy to report that Jack will start school on Friday with 6 new friends (3 boys and 3 girls). The classroom is tiny! And sadly, (or fortunately for the teachers) I didn't notice any baseballs. But I'm sure he will enjoy his new class and his new friends! And if we're lucky - he may even decide to use the potty. Three of the six kids in the classroom are potty trained...peer pressure, my friend.
