Roomies

Over Spring Break - at various places - our kids shared a bedroom. That got us thinking...maybe it was time for Nolan to vacate the Guest Room and move in with Josie. The roomies are doing well. A little MORE tired than normal because they keep each other up later... But I've added some gender neutral decor and they seem to have fun. We'll see how long we can keep this going.

Bed

Bedtime is always a little tricky around here. If Jack naps during the day - bedtime is late and frustrating. If he doesn't nap - bedtime is early and frustrating. On one night last week I knew Jack wasn't asleep, but he also wasn't sitting at the top of the stairs - so I ran up to check on him. He was sitting in bed, lights on, "reading" Malcolm Gladwell's book, Blink. My first thought was GO TO BED!!! (but I didn't say anything). My second thought was "THAT is NOT a Just-Right book." (can't take the teacher out of me)

I love checking on the kids before I go to bed. On this night I found Josie sleeping like a pro. She must have been star gazing before she fell asleep.

Bedtime Rough Housing

So at night - when kids are supposed to be calming down and getting ready to sleep - mine want to wrestle & jump on the bed & be tickled. It's like they must expend that last tiny bit of energy before they drift off to sleep. Tyson does a great job taking on both of them.

See! He took them both out in one quick swoop. We occasionally have "injuries" or children falling off the bed head first (Josie).

Cooper and I supervise. By the time we send Jack & Josie off to dreamland - they are tired and Tyson is sweating.

Pictures for Daddy

Tyson was traveling again this week… So we made sure to send him lots of pictures to let him know what we were up to. Here are some pictures from Tuesday night's bedtime routine.

Having lots of fun in the bathtub. But Josie's Whale Tub takes up SO much room!

After the bath it was time to read some bedtime books. Jack "read" a Scooby Doo book about sports and Josie got super excited to "read" Richard Scarry's What Do People Do All Day? . I like her enthusiasm.

Then both kids listened to my Dad read them Guess How Much I Love You. It's one of those record-your-own books from Hallmark! Amazing. (teachers, please note how Josie is using her finger to point to the words as she reads…she might just be a Reading Specialist's dream come true)

Small Print: I realize that my daughter is not actually pointing to the words in this book. While I believe she will be intelligent, I am in no way implying that she should be booked for the Ellen Degeneres show because she is a baby genius. Smaller Print: I know Ellen doesn't really read my blog. A girl can dream.
