Personailities

When Tyson and I were first married, we received a wonderful gift from his parents. We were given the opportunity to meet with a Career Psychologist. It was an amazing experience that helped us better understand ourselves and our relationship with one another. In our meeting, the doctor assessed many different tests, one of which was the Myers-Briggs Personality test. From his assessment, we learned that Tyson is an "ENTP" and I am an "INFP". Luckily, these two personalities mesh well. (Phew)

Tonight I came across a website that explained how our personalities would come out as parents and I thought I would share:

Kady (INFP)
INFPs are "natural" parents. They accept and enjoy the parental role, seeing it as the natural extension of their value systems. They make use of the parental role for developing and defining their values further, and consider it their task to pass their values on to their children. They take their role quite seriously. Warm, affirming, and flexible, the INFP generally makes a gentle and easy-going parent in many respects.

Tyson (ENTP)
With their fun and upbeat natures, there's a little bit of kid inside all ENTPs. They approach parenthood with a fun-loving attitude which has a serious underlying goal: to make everything a learning exercise (for themselves as well as for their children) which promotes the child's growth into an independent, logical thinker.

Tyson and I have really enjoyed learning more about our personality types. (We may have even tried to pin point what some of YOU are!) We both HIGHLY encourage everyone, if given the opportunity, to take a Myers-Briggs test. It is invaluable information. :)

What I'm looking forward to: I know it's far away still - but finding out the gender!
Weekly Wisdom: It is okay to have a meltdown to a Lowe's manager over the phone, as long as you kind of feel bad afterward...and don't make a habit of it. OOPS!
Milestones: Officially reaching 2nd Trimester this Friday!

2nd Appointment, 12 weeks

I had my second appointment this morning and everything was GREAT!  I have lost 2lbs, which concerned me (weird, I know)...but my doctor said it is "normal" and I shouldn't worry. I guess I will be packing on the pounds in the next few months, so I should enjoy this while it lasts. The doctor was able to find the baby's heartbeat (after a few minutes of searching)...PHEW! The baby had a heart rate of 170 beats per minute and the doctor was happy with that! It was SUCH a cool sound and I must admit - I cried a little! :)

After giving four vials of blood (I'm becoming so brave) - I scheduled my next appointment and left a VERY happy mommy-to-be! Our next appointment is August 10th. It's bright and early - so Tyson can join me!

I'm not posting a belly pic, because to be honest - nothing has changed.

Names

This may or may not be a good idea...but due to popular request, I will open this up to name suggestions. Just keep in mind - your name may not make the final list, so don't get too attached. :) I think, in the end, the name will be kept secret until birth. As a teacher, and with MANY teachers in the family, I know people will have an opinion based on a former student or maybe a rowdy fraternity/sorority/college friend.

So - suggest away...you never know...your name may be the one we choose for Baby Becker!

Congrats, Kassey!

I am so excited for Kassey, one of my best friends from DePauw! She and her husband, Nick, welcomed a baby boy yesterday! Oliver McQuinn Stewart was born in Indianapolis and weighed 7lb 4oz (I think).  I can't wait to meet him!

11 Weeks, the secret is out!

Our secret is out and we couldn't be more excited! It feels great sharing the news with our families and friends! Of course, the soon-to-be grandparents are thrilled. Shirlee has quickly informed all of Warsaw. She had been keeping the secret for a week and I'm pretty sure it nearly killed her. Nancy reacted with sporadic screams and shear elation. I know deep down she is hoping for a girl, so she has an excuse to re-establish the "Doll Room." We are quickly approaching the end of the first trimester and I am very excited to have less than 200 days before Baby Becker arrives!

How far along? 11 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: I'm afraid to look....
Maternity clothes? Nope
Stretch marks? Haven't seen any.
Sleep: ALL THE TIME! I love sleeping and have had no problems adjusting to sleeping on my side.
Best moment this week: Sharing our news with our families and seeing everyone's reaction
Movement: None
Food cravings: Last week I really wanted a Casa Salad (thank you, Nancy) and this week I have loved Spaghetti O's
Gender: I still think boy!
Labor Signs: None
What I miss: I wanted a Blue Moon during the 4th of July festivities...
What I'm looking forward to: Hearing the heartbeat at my 12 week appt next week
Weekly Wisdom: It's fun to tell family in person! We really enjoyed seeing everyone's reactions!
Milestones: Less nausea (so far) this week! But I still have a sensitive gag reflex.
