Talking

Recently, Jack has started "talking" to the animals that hang from his chair and his mobile. I'm sure he is very insightful.

Shot of Jack

He was all smiles IN the bath tub...but take him out, and he changes his tune. Fortunately, he looks great in his robe!

Talons

I never realized that babies have the ability to grow talons overnight! Their little nails grow SO fast and SO sharp. It's amazing. I never thought I would feel defeated by a baby's finger nails - but I do! I can't keep up with them. I'm pretty sure my mini-Edward Scissorhands could slice up a pear with the nails he is sporting today. Poor kid.

Dear Jack -

Please be on your best behavior when momma is away 1) because we like our friends AND 2) Molly doesn't like crybabies.

A Proud Dog-Momma Moment

Have you ever seen a Kady pushing a stroller and walking two (rehabbed) Labs? No? Me either. Until TODAY! We ventured out for a Happy Hour slushie at Sonic and I am proud to say, my boys were VERY well-behaved. We still have some work to do, but they walked next to me nicely, didn't pull (too much), and even sat at the cross-walks until we could go. It was amazing. I feel a sense of freedom now and I think the boys will be happier, now that they can come along. Their good efforts were rewarded with a bowl of ice cream from Baskin-Robbins.

Honestly, it's amazing I was able to take pictures. Start to finish, these bowls of ice cream were consumed in under 30 seconds. Talk about BRAIN FREEZE!

Shots of (Danish) Jack

Today Jack is modeling an adorable outfit he received from his BFF/GF, Molly. It is a traditional Danish-style onesie. Appropriately, it has cars all over it - the son of a GM employee.

Back to the Zoo

We enjoyed another afternoon at the zoo with Brooke & Molly. Both kiddos were more alert this time, but I'm not sure they really saw anything. Brooke and I enjoyed the stroll and some ice cream. And - with kids in school, it was like we had the place to ourselves!

Becker #15

This is one of my favorite outfits in Jack's closet. He hopes to be like his Daddy someday - a "K King" at DePauw.

You know you're a mom when...

you realize it was a bad idea to down a Dt. Coke 30 minutes into your 4hr drive - AND - your baby is sound asleep in the backseat.

So, you drive 80mph, without stopping, to make it home before you wet your pants. You somehow manage to evade radar detectors, set a record time: 3hr 15min, and your baby sleeps the WHOLE way! Oh - and you make it to the bathroom JUST in time.

Yup, that's how you know you're a mom.

Jack is back in the arms of his Daddy. And, as you can see, both of them are happy about it.

Shots of Jack - Post #301

No, Jack is not wearing the same outfit he wore yesterday...these are pictures from yesterday. Believe it or not, I was a bad momma-blogger and didn't get my camera out all day! So here are a few more from yesterday.
Napping on his Grandpa...even though mommy says he shouldn't (after being held 24/7 by family he is a VERY fussy boy when we get back home)
Giddy-up, Hank! Taking a ride on a big ol' bloodhound. Look at Jack's eyes! I think he was excited (or scared).

Shots of Jack

Taking a ride on Uncle Joe. Goooo Indians!
Jack's GiGi babysat him today while I was at the hospital with Mom. She thinks he is a "mini Kady" (minus the earrings).
"Finally in a place that appreciates my Hoosier gear! I-U"

Mom

I am happy to report that my mom's surgery went well today. She was in for an hour and 32 minutes. Dad and I met her in recovery and she was in good spirits - numbed up well and feeling NOTHING, thanks to some sweet pain meds. She was discharged at 1pm and napping in her own bed by 2pm. Her doctor took two lymph nodes - to check - and thought they seemed "healthy".

Our family really appreciates the well-wishes and prayers. Jack is doing a great job keeping his Grandma's spirits up - he has been smiley and playful.

A Pit Stop in Busco

Jack and I made a pit stop in Churubusco on our way back to Warsaw today. We got to see Grandma Nancy at work! Sadly, her office was closed - so Jack didn't get to meet her co-workers. But he DID enjoy lots of smooches from his Grandma.

My mom has her surgery tomorrow morning. Thanks to everyone for keeping her in your thoughts and prayers. I will give an update when we get home from the hospital tomorrow afternoon.

Double Shot of Jack

I feel like every other shirt Jack owns says something about Daddy. Today we picked out an "I love Mommy" shirt and I'm happy to report it survived the day! Survived? Yes, most of Jack's outfits don't make it past noon...we go through 2-3 a day. Laundry is not my friend.

Shots of Jack - Sweatsuit Sunday

I'm a firm believer in sweats. They are comfy and easy to lounge in. Jack enjoys celebrating "Sweatsuit Sunday" each week. Here are some pictures of the little man, napping with his Daddy today.

My Little Project

So you may be wondering what that's all about. Etsy.com is a website that allows crafters to sell their handmade goods. If you haven't heard of it I HIGHLY recommend browsing through the site. You can find everything and it's all unique because it's handmade (with love). A great site for gifts!!

Right now, I'm selling some paci clips I've made. I may consider selling other items, but will have to wait and see. I have made 2 sales. Thank you, Brooke, for being my first "customer". She bought a clip for a friend's baby girl in Denmark - yep, I'm INTERNATIONAL! (haha)

It's a fun hobby that keeps me busy and entertained.

Conversation with Jack

The Percentages of Bath Time

Bath time has become:
20% cleaning and 80% playing/splashing

50% decline in water level from start to finish

100% fun for both mom and Jack

Paci Lovin'

Shots of Jack

Working those neck muscles during some "tummy time". He is getting really strong. Also - notice the scratch next to his nose. That's what happens when mommy is afraid to clip Jack's nails.

He has his momma's eyes.

Laughing Jack

Today I watched Molly for an hour while Brooke got her hair cut. She was not happy that I was giving Jack a bath while she had to lay in his crib and watch his stinkin' mobile. She was crying - loudly - and apparently, Jack could hear her. I watched him look around and then he got a HUGE smile on his face and even laughed a little. He thought her cries were funny. Little booger.

And on a sidenote: God bless mothers of twins.

Shots of Jack

"Jack, look out behind you!"

While we were home Jack received an Ugly Doll from Catie Becker (yes, there are two of us). I have told Jack that the doll will reside in his time-out place, once he's older. Ugly behavior will require a conversation with his Ugly Doll. Despite it's name, I happen to think the doll is kind of cute.

Shots of Jack

Watching baseball with Daddy. It was the only way to get him to stop crying.
Getting sleepy.
So sleepy.
And he's out.

Moving Out

I have always said that I would move Jack to his crib when he is 3 months old. He is 3 months and 3 days...and I just can't bring myself to move him out of our room. Call me crazy (I probably am) but I feel some serious anxiety when he isn't sleeping next to me.

We attempted the move last night. Jack fell asleep in his crib at 9pm and Tyson and I watched the movie "Up in the Air." By midnight we were ready to call it a night. Tyson went to bed while I took care of the dogs' needs. By the time I got up to our bedroom, my head was reeling. "There is NO way I am ready for this tonight," I thought. I tried to put it out of my mind as I brushed my teeth...but then I peeked into the nursery and caught a glimpse of my little guy sound asleep. Something came over me and the tears streamed down my face. I don't know if it was anxiety about him being away from me or the feeling that he may not need me like he once did. I walked back to our room and looked down at the empty co-sleeper...sobs. No joke, I was crying - HARD. Tyson looked at me in shock. After explaining that I just wasn't ready...Ty told me to go get him. So I did. He never woke up... Well, he didn't wake up until 2:30 and then, again, at 6.

We will try it again...maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow night...maybe when he's 4. (kidding)

Magic Mobile

While we were in Fort Wayne we learned that Jack loves mobiles. Nancy has one at her house and I was amazed at it's "powers." Jack would watch it for 15 minutes or so and drift off to sleep. It was magic. I looked for a mobile to match his room for MONTHS before he was born. Nothing matched and I gave up. Well, seeing how magical a mobile can be...and throwing style out the window - we bought Jack a very bright mobile that he really seems to enjoy.

Enjoying the mobile.
See....it's magic!
