On Saturday night, I attended my 10 year high school reunion. I thought I was pretty slick...I had myself completely ready by 7:30, got Jack down at 7:55, and walked out the door to pick up Abbie at 8:10. (I case you don't know me well, I am late to things 95.9% of thetime) And despite the fact that the reunion started at 7:30 - Abbie and I had agreed to leave around 8, since we both have little ones.

The reunion was really nice. I got to see people I haven't seen in 10 years and some I haven't seen in 10 months. But it was just nice to catch up and see how everyone is doing. We had to fill out a form and one of the questions asked about our hobbies. After some deliberation, Abbie and I decided that changing diapers, pumping, and doing laundry probably wasn't what they wanted to hear. So I put down yoga, shopping (much to Tyson's dismay), and COUPONS (yes, I actually wrote down "coupons" as a hobby. Gina will be proud). However, I think I need more hobbies.

At 10:00 I got a desperate call from my mom. "Jack has been screaming since 15 minutes after you left. I hate to bother you, but he won't stop." So - that was the end of my night out.

When I arrived home my dad was standing in the driveway with Jack. His eyes were red and swollen from crying (Jack's, not Dad's). He took one look at me walking toward him and a HUGE smile spread across his face. He was happy as can be the rest of the night.
This is the picture we texted to Tyson....

(thanks to Alyssa for the picture of Abbie & me at the top)

  1. awh, it's so hard when they only want you and are so happy for you, but the bond is also so fun. that's something that makes being a mommy amazing... just seeing you makes them smile! sorry you had to leave early but it was so great to see you again!

  2. Kady-Jack is reminding me of his uncle Devin at that age. Denny and I attended a dinner party at one of his partner's homes and Aunt Becky babysat for Devin. We too received a call around 9 or 10 pm that Devin had been crying for so long and Becky was really afraid something was wrong. Of course we rushed home and as soon as I walked in the door he turned to all smiles. These Becker boys love their mamas! Boy this so brought back memories.
